Every bag on CARRYVALE has a size from Mini to Oversized. The size is based on the width of the bag body; for backpacks and bucket bags that are taller than they are wide, we use the height instead.

The What fits list on each product page is checked against that bag’s own measurements, so it can be shorter than the list for its size. Trust the product page first.
How we measure
- Width (W): across the base of the bag, from side seam to side seam.
- Height (H): from the base to the top edge of the opening, not including handles or straps.
- Depth (D): across the base, from front to back.
- Strap drop: from the top of the strap, pulled straight, down to the top edge of the bag. For adjustable straps we give the shortest and longest settings.
- Handle drop: from the top of the handle down to the top edge of the bag. Around 4" sits in the hand or the crook of the arm; 9" or more goes over the shoulder.
We measure by hand with the bag lightly filled, so allow about a quarter of an inch either way. Measurements are listed as W × H × D in inches, with centimeters alongside.
Choosing a strap drop
For a crossbody, stand straight and measure from the top of your shoulder, where the strap will sit, down to the point on your opposite hip where you want the bag to land. Most people between 5′2″ and 5′8″ are comfortable with a strap drop of 20" to 23". Shoulder bags usually have a drop of 9" to 12" so they sit under the arm.
